The final leg of our trip was short and sweet, an evening, night and full day in Buenos Aires before the long flight home.
The flight into Buenos Aires was uneventful, and we had already arranged a car beforehand to take us from the airport to the Recoleta neighborhood of BA. The driver was an older gentleman who spoke decent english, and he was a delight to talk with!
That evening we decided to eat at a place just down the street that was supposed to have delicious Argentinean food… Cumana. It was amazing! And also typical of us, we immediately devoured the food and didn’t take any pictures. Luckily, we went back there the next evening, so here’s a shot of their empanadas… around $0.40 each and worth every penny!

The next day we just walked around exploring the neighborhood as best we could. Since I love books, we stopped by the El Ateneo Grand Splendid, a bookstore inside an old theater. Pretty neat! Then we walked over to the Recoleta Cemetery to learn how money can best be wasted in death. I will admit, it makes for a beautiful tourist attraction.

After more walking around, we stopped at some random place for beers, a bite, and read books for a while.

The rest of the day consisted of walking, reading, another trip to Cumana and on to the airport. After two weeks, we felt like we barely touched any of the stuff we wanted to see. We can’t wait to be able to take more time and travel at a slower pace one day, but it is always nice to get back and see our stinky dog Moz. She was excited to see us, but worn out from 2 weeks at daycare! Dog tax below.
