Grand Canyon NP (North Rim) – 2022

After our time at Great Basin National Park, we headed to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon where we met up with my (Kyle’s) parents. This is our second time to the Grand Canyon – the first was at the South Rim. My parents were camped at Kaibab Camper Village and we snagged a spot just down the road from there on some national forest land.

Our dispersed site on national forest land – pickings were slim but we wanted to stay near my parents

Our first day was spent exploring the main area/village of the North Rim. The views were spectacular. My mom had to fight her fear of heights to walk around the trails on the rim – but I think it was worth it!

We ended up coming back later that evening to see the sunset – it was quite grand. I ended up taking my big camera and took way too many pictures. Capturing the last light on the peaks within the canyon was unbelievable. We don’t typically do too many evening light adventures, but I think we need to do more.

The next day we drove the “scenic drive”. It’s pretty easy to spend a day doing this – there are lots of little pull-offs with big views.

Foundation from some native ruins – these people farmed on the rim in the summer and spent the winter down in the canyon
The same native people that farmed the rim had a winter village in that river bend

We had a fantastic time exploring the North Rim – the Grand Canyon never disappoints! Thanks mom and dad for meeting up with us!
